FBU condemn "suspension" of full time Fire Cover at Cirencester

The FBU has written an open letter to all members slamming the decision of the so called "Strategic Leadership Team" to unilaterally remove fulltime fire cover within Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service.

The decision, to suspend the fulltime duty system at Cirencester Fire Station, was made by managers who said it was necessary under "heath & safety". This has been heavily disputed by the Union who have criticised management for an "unnessary" decision which conflicts with agreed conditions of service and industrial relations protocols. In the letter, the FBU has told members that the decision was unnessary, outside the Grey Book, outside of negotiating principles and, damningly, "undermines an ongoing public consultation". Read the full test of the letter here.

The letter comes during a campaign being run by the FBU against frontline cuts in the Fire Service, with some of the proposals impacting on Cirencester. You can show your support and say NO to frontline cuts by signing our online petition - more details available here.
