November 30th - Letter of thanks from the South West Regional Secretary

5 December 2011

Dear Sister/Brother

On behalf of all the FBU Officials and rep I would like to thank those of you who attended the many rallies and marches on the 30th November in support of the Pension Justice Campaign.

Throughout the South West almost 50,000 public sector workers took part in rallies and marches against the Governments proposals on pension reform. FBU members attended every single rally that was held, showing our solidarity with those taking strike actions on the day and our collective anger at what the Coalition plans for our pensions.

The FBU Executive Council is meeting this week to discuss our campaign and recent meetings between the FBU and DCLG. Reports to members will be issued in due course.

It is vitally important that the FBU, its members and officials continue to build the campaign through links with other unions and involvement with local anti cuts groups. This is in addition to continue to lobby MPs locally and when necessary at the Houses of Parliament. The Regional Committee is constantly working to ensure all MPs are given the facts regarding firefighter and control room pensions.

The South West FBU is now on YouTube, as well as Face Book and our dedicated website www.southwestfbu.com  where you will find the latest information from the South West and national Fire Brigades Union.

Yours in Unity,

JOHN DRAKE
REGIONAL SECRETARY
