TO:    ALL MEMBERS

Dear Brother / Sister

FBU CONFERENCE POLICY : MARAUDING TERRORIST FIREARMS ATTACK (MTFA) – SECURING NATIONAL AGREEMENT

As a consequence of the implications of recent events, the 2013 Conference considered a resolution brought by the Executive Council on the issue of marauding terrorist firearms attack (MTFA).

In bringing the resolution, the Executive Council was mindful, as was Conference when considering the resolution, that a number of members have volunteered to undertake fire and rescue service activity in respect of MTFA.

Members should read the resolution, (attached to this circular).
Emergency Resolution 2 EC MTFA.pdf

Our policy candidly reflects our concern that we :-

•    Protect members’ safety
•    Protect members’ common law legal vulnerability
•    Protect the Union’s finances should the need arise

We shall continue to seek a safe system of work in respect of FRS operational response to incidents of MTFA, and members will be kept informed of significant developments.

If you should require any clarification on the issues raised within this Emergency Resolution, or within the conference policy document, please contact your Brigade Officials who will be happy to assist.

Best wishes.

Yours fraternally

ANDY DARK
Assistant General Secretary
