All Members Circular - FBU SUBMISSION TO THE COMMUNITIES AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT (SELECT) COMMITTEE

TO:    ALL MEMBERS

Dear Brother/Sister

FBU SUBMISSION TO THE COMMUNITIES AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT (SELECT) COMMITTEE

On 6 June, following the publication of Sir Ken Knight’s Facing the future: findings from the review of efficiencies and operations in fire and rescue authorities in England, the CLG Select Committee announced that it wished to convene an oral evidence session to examine the content and implications of the report. Each submission, formally called a memorandum, are limited to 3000 words and had to be submitted by 28 June 2013.

Attached to this circular is a copy of the submission submitted on behalf of the Fire Brigades Union.  Its content is different from, though consistent with, our comments on the Knight Review made in the FBU submission to the Treasury in respect of the Comprehensive Spending Review (circulated via All Members Circular 2013HOC0316MW on 18 June 2013).

Best wishes.

Yours fraternally,

MATT WRACK
GENERAL SECRETARY
