Save Our Fire Service - Stop Dangerous Cuts!

Gloucestershire County Council is making dangerous plans to cut frontline fire cover. They want to close Painswick Fire Station and remove all full-time cover from Cirencester Fire Station.

Your local Firefighters believe that these plans are dangerous. We believe they would compromise our ability to do our job safely and protect the public. We understand that times are difficult and money is tight, but we believe these cuts go too far and would risk the long term safety of the public. The cuts would lead to slower response times, with fire engines taking longer to reach you in times of need. They would lead to a significantly increased risk to both the public and firefighters alike. These cuts will not just affect people who live and work in Gloucestershire but also anyone who travel through or visits the County. In other words: all of us!

Firefighters are campaigning against these cuts. We have made a press statement and produced a leaflet which explains why we think these cuts are so dangerous. We will be taking our message out into our communities and explaining to the public why we are so against these cuts. We will be asking the public to support us in our campaign.

Here's 3 ways how you can help:

1. Fill in our online petition and say NO to dangerous cuts;

2. Fill in the online "consultation" being run by Gloucestershire County Council - BUT BE AWARE - the "consultation" is written in jargonistic language which verges on the incomprehensible! We believe this has been deliberately done to confuse people. We have complained about this as we believe that the "consultation" has been written in a totally one sided, confusing way in order to obtain the outcome that Gloucestershire want - to cut the fire service! If you dont want these cuts, you should "strongly disagree", you may also want to write that "the consultation is confusing and one sided" in the comments box!

3. Email Gloucestershire County Council and tell them to withdraw their dangerous plans to cut the frontline Fire & Rescue Service!

Thanks for your support - We really appreciate your help to stop these dangerous cuts!
