Letters to MPs re RCCs

Document:

Dear All

The South West Region of the FBU has been at the forefront of the Unions campaign against Regional Control Centres (RCC). We believe that Regional Control Centres would be a disaster for the Fire & Rescue Service and would undermine our effectiveness to serve the public at emergency incidents. The South West region has run a highly effective and high profile campaign which has exposed the RCC project as a shambolic and disgraceful waste of taxpayer’s money. We have engaged the public, press & politicians and received overwhelming support for our campaign.

But we need your help to keep the pressure up in order to succeed in scrapping the project.

You will no doubt be aware that in the run up to the recent general election both parties in the new coalition Government had promised to scrap RCCs if elected.

We need to remind Conservative and Lib Dem MPs in the South West of this promise and get them to live up to it.

I have attached two “model” letters to this website, one for Liberal Democrat MPs and one for Tory MPs. If you live in the South West and have either a Conservative or a Lib Dem MP then please use the appropriate letter as a basis to write to or email them demanding that they live up to their manifesto pledge and scrap the RCC project.

We believe that the key to ending this fiasco is to get our MP`s to honour their promises. In the Fire & Rescue Service we always deliver and now we need MP`s to do the same.  Please take the time to fight for your Fire service.

Yours in Unity

Simon Jones
